Index Gallery
9 – 31 October – 2024

Central Library. Lady Lane, Waterford City. X91 V045.

Opening: Wednesday 9 October, 17:00 -19:00

Archived Waterford is a solo exhibition at the Index Gallery by visual artist Elize de Beer, which responds to the Waterford City and County Archive and Local Studies Library. The exhibition includes a large-scale installation of archival folders representing historical Waterford maps, along with a series of artist books and zines that further explore the material within the archive. Archived Waterford allowed de Beer to reimagine and explore Waterford through the lens of its archive and library spaces, inviting audiences to do the same. Visitors are able to see the vast knowledge and history housed within the archive, representing the histories of Waterford as a county and the lived experiences of its people.

Alongside the exhibition de Beer is engaging and sharing her expertise with the students of SETU as a guest lectured for the Design, Illustration and Visual Arts Students. The project and exhibition was made possible through Creative Waterford and with the support and collaboration with Waterford Art Gallery, Waterford Libraries, the Waterford City and County Archive and SETU.
